What is a Zappi charger?
Zappi is a smart EV charger made by MyEnergi. It’s designed to work seamlessly with solar PV systems, allowing you to charge your electric vehicle using 100% green energy generated from your solar panels—or from the grid when needed.
Do I need solar panels to install a Zappi charger?
You don’t need solar panels to install a Zappi electric vehicle charger. While Zappi is designed to prioritise solar energy, it can still be used like a regular EV charger even if you don’t have solar panels. You can always add solar later.
How does Zappi work with solar panels?
Zappi monitors your solar generation and automatically diverts surplus energy to your EV. You can choose between three modes—Eco, Eco+ and Fast—depending on how green or quick you want the charge to be.
Can I schedule my EV charging for off‑peak times?
Yes, the Zappi charger has built-in smart scheduling so you can take advantage of dual-rate tariffs and cheaper electricity during off-peak hours—even without solar.
Will I need a separate app for the charger?
Zappi connects to the MyEnergi app, which gives you full control and visibility of your EV charging, solar generation, grid import/export, and battery storage—all in one place.
How long does installation take?
Most EV charger installations take one to two days. Our team will assess your setup and confirm any specifics during your initial survey.
Who installs the charger?
All Zappi chargers are installed by our in-house, fully qualified electricians. We never outsource, so we can guarantee high standards and proper integration with your solar and battery system if you have one.
Can I charge my car during a power cut?
Like most home EV chargers, Zappi relies on power from the grid or your battery storage. If your battery has backup capability and is properly configured, it may be possible to charge during an outage.
